Nixzmary Mom, Pre-trial 4: Cesar Juror Crashes Nixzaliz Hearing!
By: Dovesblood
On May 13th. 2008, there was a pretrial hearing for Nixzaliz Santiago, Nixzmary Brown's mother. The prosecutors,Anthea Bruffee and Linda Weinman were present. Lead DA, Ama Dwimoh wasn't there.
When I turned my head to the courtroom door to see who was coming in, I got the shock of my life! There, walking through the courtroom door was Janice Richardson, one of Cesar's jurors. She's the one who said that if she ever got arrested that she would hire Cesar's lawyer, Jeff Schwartz to be her attorney and she also showed up at Cesar's sentencing, hugging Schwartz, telling him she missed him! I could not believe she had the nerve to show her face here. I thought "what, you coming to mess this case up too"? How dare she come here after what she did.
Richardson sat in the second row and was talking to two female reporters.
She revealed that there were a total of 4 jurors who voted manslaughter originally.
She also said that Terrence Cobwell, juror 3, who also wanted manslaughter, was beaten by his mother as a child and when he'd run under the bed to get away from her, she'd poke a straw broom under the bed at him. Richardson also said that her father beat her, saying, "my father would cut my ass". She said after the beatings, she'd be forced to take a bath and because the beatings left welts on her body, the baths were painful. You would think that because her and Cobwell were beaten, they would be sympathetic to Nixzmary, but apparently not.
Richardson said, Terrence Cobwell said during deliberations, "what if it was me?", putting himself in the place of Cesar!!.
She also said that one of the jurors who works near the courthouse is being emotionally supported by her employers and co-workers, unlike Cobwell, who's co-workers at Verizon in Manhattan are harrassing him. (good).
She said that some of the jurors were mad at how long the trial was taking and said, and I quote "we have to go home because we have kids". So rather than hold out, they choose to come to a quick decision so they could go home rather than give Nixzmary justice no matter how long it took. They should've hung the jury.
Richardson said the secret witness who befriended Nixzaliz and said Nixzaliz confessed to her to killing Nixzmary, was Spanish and in her 30's. She planned on writing a book entitled "mama why did you kill me"?.
For me, the most disturbing part about Richardson's ramblings is when she asked what cemetery Nixzmary is buried in. How dare this crack head piece of shit want to go anywhere near Nixzmary's physical remains after what she did to her???!!!!!! She could've given Nixzmary justice but choose to let her killer get away with murder! She belongs no where near that grave!!!!.
Richardson, who's retired, said she plans on attending Nixzaliz's trial everyday, including all the pre-trial and jury selection hearings. This woman wants to pollute the atmosphere with her presence and probably is looking to do interviews everyday to give a juror's perspective. I think she's trying to stretch her 15 minutes of fame into 2 months of fame. I hope the press don't give her what she wants and interview her on any slow days.
When Judge DiMango came into the room, Sanchez hadn't arrived yet. No one knew where he was. A reporter said they saw him in the building wearing a windbreaker, filing a motion. The judge was on the bench with the prosecutors at their table and the defense table empty. DA Bruffee offered to call him on her cell phone but was told that he was seen in the building. Finally, he shows up. (in a suit)
When they brought Nixzaliz out, Richardson says "you're a horrible mother" She said that twice. She's trying to act so appauled at Nixzaliz's actions when her own actions were just as bad- letting Cesar get away with murder. Nixzaliz was wearing a creme t-shirt with navy blue jeans with designs on the back pockets. Her hair was in a bun tied with a purple scrunchie. The spanish translator was sitting to her right, Sanchez to her left.
There was a long bench conference that took up most of the hearing. The prosecutors had subpoened records from a domestic violence org. Nixzaliz attended called STEPS. STEPS sent a lawyer, an older white female named Selene, to fight the subpoena. The lawyer was representing a Shera or Sheila Delvecchio. Selene, at one point, sat in the courtroom with black sunglasses on and left with them on as if to shield herself from the media.
The judge said that she felt that both sides were trying to delay the start of the trial.
Sanchez stated again that his defense would be that Nixzaliz was suffering from depression, post-partem depression, post traumatic stress disorder, depressed about money problems and her miscarriage and then he said Nixzaliz suffers from an "illness". I sat there transfixed when he said the word "illness" but listening to him describe the mental illness, it sounded like he was describing a low IQ in a fancier way.
The prosecution said they have two psychiatrists looking at the case.
They also were discussing a social service issue briefly, but I was so preoccupied with Richardson, that I lost concentration on memorizing what they said in regards to this and a few other things.
DiMango said that they would need alot of potential jurors for this case and that at the next hearing, they'd further discuss it.
